My name is Dennis Heins and I would like to be your gardener. I have worked in the industry for almost twenty years, and seen quite a bit of it, in that time. At one time I was the grounds-keeper for a large estate in north Seattle, at another I was the Field Supervisor for a local maintenance company. My personalized gardening approach is the sum of those experiences. From that knowledge I offer one of the finest and most personal gardening services around.
I use no power tools because they only lead to a, generally unacceptable, uniformity and a kind of 'speed' gardening that I refer to as mow-and-blow. You and I, both, know that when a crew is in and out of a site in twenty minutes, they have not really payed much attention to your specific needs. This sustainable way of gardening also produces a softer, more natural look, which seems to suit Northwest gardens. I know that one has to spend a little time in a garden, with the plants, in the soil. There is no other way to get the most out of a landscape.
I am also dedicated to using the least toxic products and the most sustainable techniques available. This means there will be times when a synthetic is a better choice than an organic and vis-versa. If an organic will do the job that is always my first choice. The important thing is, whatever choice is made, that it be done correctly, responsibly and knowledgeably. Just having a well tended garden goes a long way toward reducing the need for chemicals of any kind.
There are some real problems in the industry right now and, I would like to believe that, I offer an alternative to business-as-usual. This is one of the reasons I prefer to work alone rather than hire unskilled labor off the street. From the clients perspective this is a huge plus in terms of consistency and reliability. This style of gardening is a real skill, that not everyone calling themselves a gardener has.
Let's talk about how I can help you have a healthier, more beautiful garden!
